Kane Counseling Services is a full-service provider for clinical and forensic psychology, mental health therapy and counseling, psychological assessment, and diagnostic testing services.

Therapy and Counseling Services

Kane Counseling Services provides psychotherapy services to children ages 5 years and older, adolescents, and adults for most mental health issues including depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, grief and loss, adjustment problems (divorce, job stress, ailing parents, and other life stressors), and many other issues.

Some of the therapeutic styles we use at Kane Counseling include interpersonal therapy, family systems therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, and DBT. Treatment plans are individualized for each patient.

LGBTQ+
Therapy Services

Kane Counseling Services provides compassionate and knowledgeable therapy services for individuals of all genders, orientations, expressions, etc. Whether you are considering coming-out for the first time, have trauma related to your identity or orientation, or have mental health issues unrelated to your gender identity or sexual orientation, our therapists can help you work on these issues in a caring and understanding way.

Kane Counseling's providers include two of Indiana's most sought-after LGBTQ+ therapists, Courtney Cromas, MA and Dr. Erica Kane.

Psychological Assessment / Testing

Kane Counseling Services Provides Psychological Testing Services for most mental health related issues. Testing services are available for

  • Military Entry

  • Police Officer Evaluations (Entry Assessment and Post-Traumatic Event)

  • Professional License reinstatement

  • Psychosexual Evaluations 

  • Employment issues

  • Special Education, Gifted, IQ Testing

  • Cognitive and Mental Capacity

  • Psychological Diagnostic Assessments

 

We do not accept insurance for these services.

Expert Witness Services

Dr. Kane works with prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, and other forensic experts in order to provide the most thorough and accurate assessments and expert testimony.

 

Dr. Kane understands that when a case has a psychological component, a comprehensive psychological report presented by an expert witness can be one of the most powerful aspects of a trial or plea agreement. Dr. Kane works closely with you from the inception of the case through its conclusion. 

Dr. Kane is professional, confident, and well prepared. She is proficient in making complex psychological findings understandable without using psychological jargon or "psychobabble."

HRT and Gender-Affirming Surgery Services

Kane Counseling Services provides psychological evaluations for referral letters for trans identifying clients for HRT and surgery. We are available to consult with other providers on LGBTQ+ issues and/or questions related to the mental health aspects of the WPATH Standards of Care. 

We provide well-informed, compassionate care in accordance with WPATH Standards of Care in all medical and mental health treatment.

We accept most insurance plans for individual therapy/counseling services. Unfortunately, however, insurance companies have been slow to recognize the medical need for providing assessments/evaluations related to diagnosing gender dysphoria. Because of this we are unable to accept insurance plans for psychological evaluations.

For all appointments for which we do not accept insurance plans we will provide you with necessary documentation that you can provide to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement (if applicable). We will be happy to help you with any paperwork required.

Forensic Psychological Assessment Services

Dr. Kane provides psychological forensic work in Family and Criminal Law. She has completed evaluations and served as an Expert Witness in many cases.

Dr. Kane is a Registered Domestic Relations Mediator for the State of Indiana, and assists courts as a Guardian ad Litem and Parenting Coordinator.
